In regard to online learning, unrestricted access to course materials is paramount hence we have seen active developments of e-learning platforms, with Moodle being the most popular one. Benefits of such platforms are obvious: abundance of features to facilitate course development and, subsequently, grading on behalf of the teacher, as well as providing students with a concise and straight-forward way of taking the said course. Yet, Moodle on its own does not provide a straight-forward way for the students to carry out hands-on assignments, hence requiring any one taking the course to have a learning environment set up on their computer. A solution to this problem also exists in the form of Project Jupyter - a web application which can be described as a tweakable platform for “running” code in the browser. This article describes a technological solution that integrates Moodle with the Jupyter Lab to solve modeling problems of teaching modelling in a distributed virtual environment.
