The paper describes the contribution from the European Union research and development (R&D) Framework Programme 7th to the Transport research in particularly focusing on the maritime sector. Analysis the success rate of projects retained for financing from the year 2007 call in Transport priority. Moreover outlining the opportunities and increasing the awareness for transport related research in upcoming 2nd call of the 7th Framework Programme. As successful examples on increasing of awareness of EU Maritime related research are presented within project EUROMAR-BRIDGES.
