The energy balance calculation of the new conceptual small-scale household connection to the 5th generation ultra-low district heating and cooling (DHC) system combined with photovoltaic-thermal (PVT) solar collectors and heat pump (HP) located on the user side is investigated using the TRNSYS energy simulation software package. The energy consumer is a household with heating and cooling loads for a single-family detached house and hot water demand. Simulation is made for Northern Europe (Riga, Stockholm, Helsinki) climate. The simulated system has six different regimes, so it might simultaneously produce and consume both heating and cooling energy. The results show the ratio between the locally produced and received heating/cooling energy from the central system. Also, the temperature graphs, system operation periods and heat pump COP are analyzed.
