The Modal Analysis of Laminated Composite Cylinders under Axial Tension Loading in ANSYS

Natural frequencies and vibration modes of laminated composite cylinders were calculated under axial tension loading by the finite element method using ANSYS Mechanical software package. Two types of axial tensile load were modeled: a suspended weight and a static axial load in the zone of weight attachment into the cylinder. The features of the modal analysis of a prestressed system depending on the type of applied tensile load were analyzed. The numerical results obtained were compared and the possible reasons for their discrepancy were explained.
