The purpose of this paper is to analyze the possible improvements using Problem-Based Learning (PBL) through a student-managed laboratory and improved learning means. This paper analyzes the current state of electrical and power engineering education at Riga Technical University (RTU) and suggests a way to strengthen it by utilizing Problem-Based Learning. The faculty of electrical and environmental engineering houses a Student-managed laboratory called 'Latvenergo Creative Laboratory' (LRL) which will be one of the focus points of Problem-Based Learning implementation in the study process. Through successful projects, the possibilities of different Problem-Based Learning workflow models are considered that could be implemented in existing courses with improved study materials.
