To save the Earth's climate, it is necessary to transmit a lot of electricity over long distances. The most suitable way to do it is to use long power lines – HVAC or HVDC. According to the electrical characteristics, HVAC lines, even equipped with FACTS, cannot compete with the HVDC lines, but the construction and operation of the latter requires that the length of the lines be taken into account when choosing the line type and the confine is 500 - 800 km. A closer look at HVAC lines can help improve their competitiveness. The challenge is to decrease voltage deviations along the line. Decomposing the voltage and power loss into components, may show the way to amend stability of voltage along the line and occasionally decrease power losses.
