Textile and Clothing Production Specialists Demanded on the Latvian Market

The production of textile is a traditional sphere in Latvia whose export volumes though by a little exceeds the import and testifies its competitiveness in the contemporary world market conditions. However from year to year the there are changes and development going on in the companies often with a negative outcome in connection with the raise of the labour costs and the immense competition on the market as well as government policy. In those uncertain and dynamic conditions the companies have to change their strategy and tactics to try to keep their competitiveness. One of the preconditions to keep it is highly qualified technical personnel – foreman, technologists and designers whose knowledge and skills have a great impact on the productivity as well as quality. The authors of the article have gathered information about what specialists with what knowledge and skills are necessary for the Latvian clothing producers to be able to work successfully in the existent market conditions so the higher education gained in Latvia could provide the necessary knowledge for the new specialists of the examined field.
