In this research native montmorillonite clay (M) is used as nanofiller for glycerol and water gelatinized starch (PS). PS/M nanocomposites with varying clay content have been obtained by using methods of melt intercalation and solution intercalation. Manufacturing technology as well as structure, mechanical and sorbtive properties of these nanocomposites are investigated Results of the investigation show, that by increasing nanoclay content up to certain level such parameters as tensile strength, stiffness and hydrofobicity are increased. Thus investigated compositions can be used as potential food packaging materials.
