Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) of the two kinds of powder compositions of Al2O3, SiO2 - gel, ZrO2 and Y2O3 with and without mineralizer – illite clay and prepared by milling in planetary ball mill was performed. Investigations were carried out in order to show the influence of this sintering method on phase development and some properties of sintered ceramic samples. It is shown that submicronic powder has enabled to obtain sample with relative density up to 98-100 % at temperatures starting from 12000C for samples without illite clay additive, and with this additive - at 11500C. SPS sintering led to the formation of mullite and ZrO2 cubic as the main phases. Development of corundum, as it was established in conventional sintered samples, using SPS was not observed.
