In the past two decades many times it is mentioned that nowadays is the Age of Information. However knowledge becomes the most important asset for individuals and organizations, which more increasingly has been viewed as an active area of research. Accordingly there is a need for highly qualified knowledge workers. That in turn implies a necessity for on an effective technology based education system, which provides a foundation for lifelong learning paradigm and for obtaining well educated specialists. Therefore in addition to such already existing education approaches as classroom learning and distance learning also have appeared an e-learning and an m-learning (mobile learning) approach, which requires intensive use of PC (personal computer) based devices, mobile devices and accordant technologies. Latter mentioned approaches form a basis for enhanced ways of acquiring new knowledge and skills, which could be seen as educating and learning quality enhancing outcomes. In this paper principles of qualitative e-learning in higher education are discussed. Not only insights from academia, but also insights from the field are taken into account. That is done by evaluating quality enhancement in the adult training experience as an educator in a pan-Baltic retail chain organization. Then paper focuses on its ultimate objective by addressing perspectives of quality adult learning both as an educator and as a learner in the environment of PKM (personal knowledge management). This environment is not just focused on an individual. Rather it is involving also collaboration for knowledge exchange thus forming learning communities of practice where different modern technologies could be used. Possible future opportunities of quality adult learning and PKM are explored in general, in perspective of m-learning and by taking into account some latest achievements in regards to mobile devices and the rapid development of mobile device technologies. Finally the outcomes of this theoretical research and empirical experience are discussed and potential benefiting parties are identified.
