The aim of this research was combination of both previously described modification methods – blending and radiation modification – in order to obtain effective engineering materials with desirable properties. PP and elstomeric ethylene-octene copolymer (EOC) with 38 wt. % of co-monomer content were chosen as building blocks for the investigated composite. In contradiction to PP, which radiation resistance is rather poor, EOC undergoes predominantly cross-linking on high beam irradiation. Besides it combination of EOC and PP in a radiation modified blend could lead to the development of certain interface copolymers capable of improving intrinsic incompatibility between PP and EOC.
