Conceptual Approach to the Design of a Creative E-course Model for Engineering Students
The 9th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies (ICALT 2009): Proceedings 2009
Diāna Rumpīte

The article deals with the implementation of the socio-cultural and activity theory (Vygotsky, Leont'ev, Engestrom, etc.) as the methodological basis in the design and delivery of a creative online course in English for engineering students at university. It describes some of the methodological principles in the selection of the online study content and its organization, and illustrates the creative problem solving procedures, specifically with ThinkTank (Groupsystems company) and Zing (Zing Technologies Pty, Ltd.) advanced team learning systems. The suggested course model promotes the development of the English linguistic, communicative skills and creative thinking skills of engineering students in their integrity.
