Proceedings of QMOD 13 "LearnAbility, InnovaAbility and SustainAbility" 2010
Iveta Mežinska, Arnita Apine

Applicability of guidelines standard ISO 10014 has been studied on the example of one of the leading solid wood furniture companies in Latvia - starting from self- assessment, selection of tools and methods, to evaluation of results. As self- assessment results indicated as principle with lowest score “Process approach”, further investigations were related with process approach principle and it’s application in manufacturing process. Following to ISO 10014:2006 philosophy and employing PDCA approach, different methods and tools (Benchmarking, Pareto analysis, Process audit, FMEA, Theory of Constraints, Lean manufacturing) have been selected. The primary goal was manufacturing process improvement in terms of effectiveness and efficiency, optimizing use of resources. The second – development set of methodologies, which can be practically applied for process improvements needs identification in future.
