Research on the effect of the amber powder suspension on dermis, hypodermis and skin derivates, as well as on the reaction of blood vessels on textile pads impregnated with different concentration amber suspension was carried on. Textile pads that were impregnated with Baltic amber powder suspension are meant for hygienic purposes. Baltic amber contains about 3 – 8 % of succinic acid. Succinic acid containing preparations recently find more and more use in medicine. When in organism succinic acid activates tricarboxilic acid cycle which favours withdrawal of unoxidized products of metabolism. To evaluate skin irritation 40 Guinea pigs were taken and divided into 5 groups. Skin of the experimental animals was treated with the amber powder suspension (5, 10, 20 %). Guinea pigs skin histological preparations were than analyzed in order to check for morphological changes in dermis, hypodermis and skin derivates. Results show that succinic acid has stimulating effect on Guinea pigs skin hair follicles.
