2010
Gunther Sollinger

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), also remotely piloted vehicles (RPV), are widely used weapon systems in many of today’s modern armies. The history of this weapon, surprisingly perhaps, dates back to the beginning of World War I. The aim of this article is to follow the development of unmanned aircraft during 1914−1918, with special focus on Germany.
