Early geometric woven patterns were built up from a basic two-check design. This basic ideology remained over the centuries. Weavers retained the method of previous designs, which derived from the arrangement of the copper plates on the fabric. This was popular technique and was widely used for the borders of wraps, skirts and sashes. The analysed items had high degree of ornamentation reflected an intimate relationship of the wearer with her/his universe. The purpose of the research was to demonstrate the use of a systematic approach and computer simulation in analysing woven ribbons. It included the use of published materials, detailed visual observation of the motifs from the actual piece in the woven form, finding out identifiable cyclical patterns, symmetries and other geometric rules.
