Silver-doped hydroxyapatite (HAp/Ag) has been extensively studied as an implant material in recent decades due to its antibacterial and osteoconductive properties. However, by adding improved functionality, like drug delivery, to antibacterial and biocompatible bone graft substitutes it is possible to develop multifunctional implant materials. One of the possibilities for preparation of drug delivery systems on the basics of hydroxyapatite is to develop porous scaffold. Therefore, the aims of the research have been to prepare porous HAp/Ag scaffolds, to determine the silver release rate and to evaluate the scaffold morphology.
