The Azotobacter chroococcum is potentially prospective microorganism for biosynthesis of biodegradable polymer poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (PHB). The efficiency of PHB accumulation depends on fermentation conditions and significantly vary between different strains. The Azotobacter chroococcum DSM 2286 biomass growth is previously studied for preparation of biofertilizers but there is lack of information about PHB synthesis by this strain. In present study we evaluate the PHB synthesis by A. chroococcum DSM 2286 on glucose medium under phosphate limitation in batch and fed batch process.
