Calcium phosphate materials are widely used in medical field as bone grafts and scaffolds, due to biocompatibility and chemical similarity with natural mineral phase of bone. Calcium phosphate ceramics are bioactive and bioresorbable materials. Development of calcium phosphate biomaterials is one of the main research fields in Riga Biomaterials Innovation and Development Centre. Scientists have developed various forms of porous implants and scaffolds, for instance, cylinders, tablets, granules and blocks.
