The sol-gel technology is widely used for the synthesis process of mixed oxide coating systems. Using this technology it was very suitable to control composition and nanostructure of final coating material. Binary oxide systems that containing silica has attracted considerable attention due to their excellent properties such as high surface area, large pore volume and practical interesting for their potential application for different areas. For example, binary system TiO2–SiO2 has received much attention due to its possible application in catalysis and optic, for catalytic application and self-cleaning surfaces. In order to prevent scattering, homogenous pore distribution, pore size noticeably smaller than the wavelength of light (i.e. mesoporosity: 2–50 nm), and nanometric particle sizes are required. The properties of ceramic materials that contain Pluronic F 127 (20%) have been studied by many researchers, extensively in biomedical applications. The surfactants decrease the capillary stress. From the viewpoint of practical application, shape and morphology control of mesoporous TiO2–SiO2 materials is very important. The aim of the research was to prepare mesoporous TiO2–SiO2 system coatings on glass substrate via sol-gel technology and determine structural properties and porosity of thin films.
