The Kroll process is widely applied in the industrial production of titanium. The complexity of this technology, determining high prices on the produced metal, stimulates the search for new technological solutions. In this paper, the Kroll process is proposed to be combined with the electroslag process in a single setup. Results of preliminary experiments performed in a laboratory water-cooled reactor are discussed. The distribution of the products of the basic and adverse reactions in a slag sodium chloride based system was investigated using X-ray fluorescence and X-ray diffraction methods.
