Photochromic materials, that modulate their optical properties in response to light irradiation, have been studied for usage in such applications as displays, optical storage media and signal processing, as well as chemical sensors and smart windows.[1] These materials include different organic materials, metal halides, transition metal oxides. Out of these materials transition metal oxides have been widely studied because of their cost effectiveness and increased stability.[2] One such material is titanium dioxide (TiO2), whose photocatalytic properties can be turned into photodoping, in order to change the optical properties of TiO2 nanoparticles as well as thin films.[3]
