The output of Latvian power plants does not cover the demand of electrical energy, and there is a sufficient potential for the development of electricity production. In the paper current situation in the Latvian energy policy as regards combined heat and power generation is assessed. On the basis of this analysis, proposals for amendments in the current legal regulation have been prepared.
