Binary PVC/CPE blends for coating or replacing of traditional corrosion-sensitive materials have been investigated. PVC/CPE blends were obtained in a rather wide composition range. Rheological and diffusion properties of these blends were investigated. From the sorption analysis data, it was concluded that although at low CPE concentrations investigated blends could be considered as thermodynamically compatible, for coating and barrier material applications more appropriate should be regarded systems with higher PVC content, due to their smaller diffusion coefficients. From the rheological analysis, in its turn, it was concluded that all the PVC compositions with CPE are thermoplastic by nature and can be processed and recycled by means of traditional thermoplastic processing equipment.
