The Handbook for Assessors of Prior Learning will be useful for those educators who are participating in Vocational (VET) teacher education programmes. The primary goal of assessment of prior learning (APL) in VET teacher education refers to the improvement in quality of VET teachers` education programmes. The Handbook for Assessors of Prior Learning is one of the outcomes of the Leonardo da Vinci Programme project " Transfer of Innovative Methodology for Assessment of Vocational Teachers` Prior Learning" The Handbook for Assessors of Prior Learning consists of two parts: Part I provides the theories behind the broad definition of APL, defines VET teachers, discusses the worthiness of APL and the application of APL to VET teacher education programmes. Part II defines the principles and the participants of APL, the APL methods they should use, and ends with concrete examples of good and bad practices. Parts I and II conclude with reflective or practice oriented learning tasks, which will help readers to create their own methogology for implementing APL in VET teacher education.
