At present human capital is one of the most essential factors of the competitiveness of a country. Human capital is the wealth of every nation, including Latvia too, which is a resource making huge investment returns and once invested the resource brings income all the lifetime. Knowledge, skills and competences acquired during the lifetime are a long-term investment promoting and ensuring the personal and social welfare. The elements leaving impact on the human capital are demography, education, health, employability and professional preparedness for the working place. All this enriches people emotionally and make them more productive.
