The main limitation for use of the porouscalcium phosphate ceramic scaffolds, in the case where high load is necessary, lies in the poor mechanical resistance assocuated with their porosity. A possible approach to achieve better mechanical performance of the implant would be to develope a polymer-ceramics composite material. In current research incorporation of a biodegradable polymer into the ceramic scaffold to increase the mechanical properties was studied. The in vivo investigations ceramic scaffolds coated with polymer and non-coaded ceramic scaffolds were impanted subperiostally in angular region of lower jaw in nine rabbits.
